What does it mean to join GTFR?
To join GTFR is just so surreal to me, I have dreamt of joining such a pinnacle and iconic team since I transferred from BMX racing to mountain biking. I have always wanted to race at the top level in my sport and I’m so thankful for GT giving me this amazing opportunity. The opportunity to ride and have fun with a selection of the sport’s greatest like Martin and Wyn and Noga is truly amazing. GTFR have given me the opportunity to gain experience and learn throughout 2020 and I can’t wait for it all to get started.
What are you most looking forward to in 2020?
The thing I am most looking forward to in 2020 is meeting the whole team and racing my first ever World Cup. I cannot wait to start gaining vital World Cup experience and having good times with all the team!
How did you first get into riding?
My father and his dad were two wheel fanatics, from motorbike trials and pit bike racing to Downhill racing, so it was always in the blood to ride a bike. I was taken down to my local BMX track and got on really well, placing 1st in my first few club races. From there my dad took me to my first full BMX national year, and I placed 2nd. My love for BMX grew and grew over the years until I was 14 years old and wanted a change. This was Downhill Mountain biking.
What motivates you to ride?
The thing that motivates me the most to ride is the idea of improvement, I always want to ride and perform better than I did the last weekend. This could be in the gym, working on strength or just having fun and shredding the trails with my mates. I breathe to ride a bike and this infatuation will never stop. As well as improvement, the idea of standing on a World Cup podium is just such a dream for me, there is no doubt this is in my mind when training on the trails.
Another major thing that motivates me to ride is about a year ago, one of my close friends father passed away. He was always having fun and I always thought to myself, I want to have that much fun when I’m his age! I know he is shredding in heaven and having the best time, so I’m doing this for him. #shredforstu
